Subaru's all-new 2010 Outback "Sport Utility Wagon" is arriving with a base price of $22,995 (*add $695 to all of the prices for destination and delivery), the same dollar amount that was adhered to the window of the outgoing 2009 model. The standard model is fitted with a revised 2.5-liter normally-aspirated flat-four rated at 170 hp and mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The stick shift can be swapped for Subaru's new Lineartronic CVT, but it will bump the base price up to $23,995.

Those looking for a bit more kick, and a longer list of standard features, will choose the 256-hp Outback 3.6R model with its new 3.6-liter normally-aspirated flat-six mated to a standard five-speed automatic transmission. The starting price of the 3.6R model is $27,995 - that is $4,000 less than the MSRP of the equivalent 2009 Outback, and none of the new models require premium fuel. The flagship 3.6R Limited starts at $30,995.

All 2010 Outback models are equipped with Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive as standard equipment. Options include a $995 power moonroof, an upgraded 440-watt harman/kardon audio package with Bluetooth connectivity for $995, and the navigation package which includes the upgraded audio plus an eight-inch LCD touch-screen, back-up camera, USB port, and iPod capabilities for $2000.
