    Default Check engine light

Ok, so i just bought a 2002 WRX a week ago, and suddenly it has the check engine light on. it is idleing at anywhere from 500-900 rpm. when i first got it, the idle rpm was right on 1000. seeing as how i am broke from just buying the car, i cant afford to get it diagnosed yet, so i thought i would throw it on here. The first thing that popped into my mind was the TPS. but if anyone else has an idea it would help. Oh, there is also an exhaust leak in the front area.. i havent pinpointed it yet, (hopefully this weekend) do you think that might screw with a sensor or something to make the check engine light come on? thanks!!!!

To read the fault code.Maybe you can diagnostic yourself. To borrow or purchase a OBD2 code reader,to read the fault code, then find problems according to the code.

It's you're right the ask the dealership about your issue. They have the service bulletin for that and on the first place they have further information about the said thing. On the other hand, i you would decide to have the replacement then you are free to seek for reputation Subaru parts store out there.

Check your Idle Control Valve or your AFM, and change your spark plugs

Get the fault codes diagnosed before wasting time and money throwing parts at it. Lots of auto parts suppliers will check the codes for free.
