I'm new here, but I've been a long time Subaru driver. My 93 Loyale has 209,000mi, the 1.8L engine, with a manual transmission. This morning I had a very interesting problem.
It started up (better than normal) and I drove about 4 blocks, stopped at a stop sign, put it in 1st gear to go, and it barely moved. I rolled it to the side of the road, put it in gear again and as I released the clutch there was no forward movement. After releasing the clutch it makes a grinding noise (like something was rubbing against metal) and will not engage to go forward or backward.
Any ideas? A friend said it might be a bearing somewhere ... I'm not much of a car guy so any input would help!
