I'm crunching the numbers and am trying to decide whether to continue regular service of my 92,000 mi. 2006 Outback Ltd or trade in for a brand new one.

Issues are primarily focused on the big ticket items that need to be addressed as I cross the 100,000 mile threshold. Do I continue to replace timing belt, inevitable mufflers, front end, etc. or hand off my cream puff to someone more handy than I am and get brand new Outback. In all honesty, I don't like the way the newer Outbacks handle and ride. They also include lots of bells and whistles for those who know little about 4WDs...So I'm actually tempted to go buy another manufacturer's car.

What should Ii consider ? Find the cost to keep my Subaru in tip-top shape very high.
