Default New subie owner, possible problem?

I just purchased a 2006 Subaru Impreza OBS, 5spd manual. I'm having major lack of power issues on hills. When I test drove it, it did fine and was fine the first couple of days, which were at sea level. Then I drove it home to 8000 feet.

At about 5000 feet I started to notice the lack of power. Today, I drove home from work, up the grade, in 3rd gear and barely made it to 60.

Is this just an under powered engine or is there something wrong? Any suggestions?

    Thanks

might need time to adjust to the altitude.

im guessing its NA, for hill climbing would need turbo but a cold induction and fairly unrestricted intake and exhaust would help too
