    Default at temp light blinked

    i drove my 98 outback about 40 mi then stopped on a STEEP hill pointing downhill turned car off for about 2 min. then restart light blinked about four times not sure caught me off guard

    any thoughts??

    Restart light? don't know what you are talking about. Are you talking about a CEL (check engine light)?

    It was the ATF temp light right have the codes pulled it might be nothing but many Auto trans related failures could have been fixed for nickels on the dollar if they were addressed ahead of time. It is best to have this diagnosed by a Subaru specialist be it a dealer or inderpendant make sure they work on late model Subarus

    If it was the check engine light flashing it was a severe missfire possibly a coil, plug wire or plugs given the load it was under.
