Default Trans and rear diff. ques

I heard from a friend that if you replace a transmission in an AWD scooby then you have to replace it with a matching rear differential. Anyone heard of this?

    Thanks, Tyrell

If you replace it, wouldn't you replace the tranny with an identical model to the one that came out which would still be matched to the rear dif type?

If you replace it, make sure it is the same ratio as the old one, or just get both from a donor vehicle.

Yeah thats exactly what I thought was if you have a matching trans. to the one you took out then there would be no need to swap the rear diff. so thanks for the input
