i currently own an 88 5.0 mustang. but theres just something about a subaru and ive always wanted a wrx. my budget is around $7k. obviously mustangs are pretty cheap and easy to work on and you get alot of bang for your buck as far as mods go. im trying to figure out if subarus compare in that catagory. are they expensive to maintain? are they hard to work on?

man thats a lil far, im in oklahoma and i just got back from florida 2 weeks ago lol. the point of this topic is to find a lil bit more about subarus before i get one. im trying to figure out if they're a pain to work and if theres any common problems with them.

Subaru is a good vehicle, but sometimes repair costs too much(((

any car is hard to work on untill u get experience working on it then it gets easy it took me 3 hours to take my first transmission out and now it takes 15 minutes but that is on a hummer h3 ive done a timing belt on a subbie and a water pump it took about 4 hours with the right puller funnie story about that hahaha

500 for a 2.2? what year? I purchased mine for 3k, its great, had it a school year, its quick, ill tell you what i think on maintaining as soon as i change my front driver CV shaft. Its just about as expensive as any car, the dealer made us a free key, which is nice, it stands the revs fine. I really do like it, handles great, and btw, it'll beat mustangs! stock ones, but its stock.

Hey 97imp, changing an axle is super easy. Let me know if you need help. I will walk you through it if need be. The 2.2 is the best motor subaru every made for sure, and you should always change your crank seal when changing your timing belt lol. I learned that the hard way too. Those motors are bullet proof and can easily go over 300k before any work is done. Glad you are enjoying it.

thanks man, its at 167k right now, doing the axle tomorrow, any pointers you might give me?
