Hi all ,

I'm new on this forum. I write you becouse I'm a STi love and I'd want to buy the Subaru Impreza STi 2006 or 2008 ..with the 2,5L engine. I heard that this car has some problems with Pistons becouse it needs too much Oil .

My question about this is :

Has this car Piston problems only when you make a little tuning ( ECU ) with the stock pistons ????

Could I have problems with Pistons with a totaly STOCK car ???????

I'm sorry for my bad english :( But i gues you have understood :)

Hello, that is a problem with the STI's, there is a reflash for the ecm for that problem but if you tune the ecm then you will probably have problems. The best thing to do is to install forged pistons, then you will have no problems at all. If you are going to run the car hard than keep a very close eye on your engine oil level. If you run them hard they will use a little oil, and make sure you change your oil every 3,000 miles and no more. I can't stress this enough, the most common cause of engine failure for these cars is lack of maintinance. Other than that there are not too many problems with the car.
