Im looking for a early 90s subaru with around 100000-150000 miles and awd for under 3000 theres lots here in washington.
Now buying older cars have problums, so what do I need to look for when buying one of these?
Such as common problums and issues related to the type of car and years 1990 through 2000.

the boxer engine is pretty forgiving; if you find one with an oil leak, just check/add oil often. I had an '89 with 200k miles and I added oil between and during fuel-ups. it worked great till a rollover.
Check the axles for worn CV joints.

Definitely check the half-shafts and CV joints. How much the engine leaks is of course a concern. These boxer-opposed engines are simple on the early 90's Suby's. Struts are another issue on a car that old: when is the last time (if ever) they were replaced. Also check the rear crossmember between the rear wheels -- they rust out and can cause "sudden" problems while driving.
