hi there,
my subaru is using 95 octane lead free petrol. this is how i bought it about 3 months ago. i was told they should be using the leaded petrol. it is driving fairly smooth (also regarding it's age..) and only rings a bit going up hill and it is terribly weak doing so..
could i just go back to leaded ?
also, would like to change the spark plugs. would the NGK-R BKR6E that are installed do ?
cheers.

the ngk BKR6E is a good spark plug for your application. Those engines have hardened steel seat inserts for the exhaust valves to seat against and so you do not require leaded gas. I would however do a basic tune up on the car by replacing plugs, wires, air cleaner and have the fuel injectors cleaned. if you do not know when the last time the timing belt was serviced do so know and replace the water pump and all tensioners. Yes it is costly up front but you will be happy in the long run. If you would like to tackle the repairs yourself please send me your email and i can forward you detailed instructions on how to do it.

thanks
