View Full Version : Difference between a legacy and a legacy outback suspension

I would like to know the difference between a 99 legacy suspension and a 99 legacy outback suspension. My 99 postal legacy has 14" rims and tires (185/70/14). I would like to switch to a 15" rim and tire that fits the outback 205/70/15. The reason I want to switch is because I have been having problems with rocks puncturing my tires while driving on gravel roads. I have found a Yokohama tires that are made for trucks in this size. They have more steel belts and a higher load rating. I understand that the outback has a higher ground clearance. I am sure part of this is due to a taller tire. What is different about the suspension? Are the struts and springs longer? I could probably use new struts, so now is the time for me to make a change, if possible. Is there a difference in the control arms? Any help would be appreciated. I am sure someone with more knowledge than I can point me in the right direction. Thanks for any help ahead of time.
