View Full Version : 98 Forester Head Gasket?

I'm looking at a 1998 Forester w/231,000 on the clock. The current owner has had it for 3 years. He has put aprox 20,000 on it. He has not replaced the head gasket.

What are the chances a '98 Forester has made it this far without the head gasket being replaced? Other things to be wary of with a Forester of this age and mileage?

Thanks in advance!

odds are the head gaskets were done long before he got the car. at that milage its all up in the air. anythink could go wrong

I passed on that one, too many miles, too much rust, etc.

In general, did they redesign the head gaskets in that generation of Foresters, or do I have to look later generation where that isn't an issue?
