Hello everyone,

I know, this might sound really stupid, but I don't want to screw up... I have recently bought my "new" Suby Forester 1998 (98k miles), it is my first car and I'm starting to love it right the way. I'm going to change the oil and oil filter and don't have the owner's manual. Could please some good and wised man advise me to do it safely for the car? I would deeply appreciate!
Thanks in advance!

Karel

You need to move the tire and wheel off in order to access the subaru oil filter (http://www.drivewire.com/make/cat/oil-filter/subaru/). After you have done that, use a filter wrench to remove the filter. Move the pan over and drop the filter in the pan. Before putting the new filter, let the old oil drain completely so that it does not get mixed with the new oil. Place some oil on the seal to ensure that you get a good firm seal once you put the new oil filter on. Make sure the filter is only hand tightened and snug with one more turn once it seats. Hope this helps.

Are you going to change oil and filter every 3000 miles on?
